So, as some of you already know, we got a dog! Which, of course, means pictures. It took some doing, but I found decent pictures of all ten of the pets.
Ginormica, Maura’s fish
Charlie and Tibby
Rupert, who is trying to sleep and would like me to leave him alone.
Howie, who slept right through this.
Lotte, who is both the shyest and most difficult to photograph of our cats.
Louise
Molly
Lola. She’s pretty much always like this.
Basil, who is so exhausted from being cute that he doesn’t even care that his muzzle is flipped around.
Basil, again, with the smallest rope bone they had at the pet store.
In unrelated news, Maura’s birthday is this Sunday, and she’s driving me insane. It seems like she’s spent the whole week being as nasty and rude as she can be. Normally I like being around her, but lately I want pretty much anything but that. I feel like a horrible mother, because the nastier she is, the less time I want to spend with her, but that’s probably just when she needs us to be spending the most time with her, right?
I’m pretty sure that this is a biological thing: children are adorable long enough that we don’t kill them while they’re small and vulnerable, and then when everyone knows them, they turn horrid. I honestly don’t think that I could pay someone to take her away with the way she’s been acting lately. I never thought I’d see a time when I was desperately hoping that my seven year old was experiencing the beginnings of puberty, but oh god, do I hope that’s what this is. If it’s not, I can only imagine how bad things will be in a few years from now.
I reassure myself, sometimes: at least the dog listens to me.

I am glad to hear you got a dog. Kudos for getting a shelter dog too! While more work than most cats, they do have some good points. Your pictures are amazing. I love the one of Maura by the river. She is beautiful. I hope she is getting better and it is getting easier to be around.
