I know, I know, it’s generally considered appropriate to make intro posts before the other posts. That said, since I expect that a grand total of two people are reading this (literally, two people: my friend Jess, who has no blog, and Livia, who has a blog that ought to be updated more often) I didn’t feel that there was much a need to stand on ceremony. Still, introductions should be made.

So: I’m Meghan. This is my blog. I live with my lovely husband, sometimes lovely six-year-old daughter, seven cats, and a few fish in a hundred-year-old house just outside of Akron, Ohio. [Edit: Now the daughter is six, we have eight cats, and also a dog. These things happen.] I grow vegetables, knit socks, read a lot, and don’t update GoodReads or Facebook or anything else nearly as often as I ought to. I’ve had blogs on and off since about 1996. Sometimes I update every day, and sometimes I ignore them for months. I’m probably not dead when I do that. I just get distracted.

I’m an editor at Ellora’s Cave Publishing, which I mention less because it’s interesting or relevant here and more because it’s fairly easy to find if you have any ability to work the Googles. Anything posted on this website is 100% my opinion and doesn’t reflect the opinions, policies, or thoughts of my employer, my co-workers, my friends, my husband, or anyone else who is not me.

Sometimes I may do things such as give advice, offer my opinion, or post directions for various projects or recipes. These things are only my suggestions and the outcome can and probably will vary from person to person. I’m firmly of the mindset that there’s no one right way to do anything, and what I’m posting is only the way that works for me. What works for you may be sacrificing a chicken and doing a rain dance naked on the roof. I don’t know your life.

Additionally, things may be discussed that you find offensive. These things include but are by no means limited to politics, religion, body acceptance, feminism, fiction, non-fiction, science, and pop culture. I’m quite certain that if you read long enough, you’ll find some point on which our minds do not meet. While you’re welcome to civilly disagree in the comments, I reserve the right to not engage in the discussion if I don’t feel up for it. Should you be unable to disagree civilly, I suggest that you go elsewhere. The interwebs are a big place, and there are plenty of other places for you to hang out. Since I pay for the hosting around here, I make the rules, and that means that if you’re a jerk, I’ll probably just ban you. I do not feel obligated to give warnings.

To recap: Anything I say here is just my opinion; don’t ascribe my opinion to other people or corporations; don’t be a jerk.
